On a recent trip to the dollarama i found the cutest little table top water fountain! You see, in Feng Shui, it doesn’t matter where you buy an item. The only thing that matters is the felling it gives you, and the intention you give it. I am so happy with my $5 purchase and it has changed the energy in my home.

The water element

The element of water is so important to have in your home and a great place to put it is in your front entrance, why? Because it represents flow.

Feng Shui translates into flow and fortune, and water is one of the elements that helps that happen. Think gentle water and not images of crashing waves.

You can add the water element in in a few ways in your entry way:

  • Adding a mirror (make sure the mirror never faces back out the front door)

  • Adding the colors blue or black.

  • Images of water but no crashing waves.

  • Glass vases.

  • Wavy shapes.

Or, you can do what I did, add a small water top fountain on an entry way table.

Each morning after I do my morning journaling and meditation, I turn on the fountain for a minimum of 15 minutes. I set the intention of abundance, opportunities, and love flowing into my home.

This has calmed the energy of my home and I have had opportunities and new inspired ideas coming to me since!

Note: If you are placing the water fountain in your entrance, make sure that it is facing inwards and not out. You want your flow of fortune to come in and not out.

Three things that can happen after you bring water into your home

  1. You notice more opportunities for you and the people in your home. This may be a a new job offer as the element of water is connected to career.

  2. You feel more peace. Water is calming and the gentle sounds of your fountain can spread peaceful energy around your home. After a heated argument or stressful day, switch on your fountain.

  3. Money can flow as naturally as water. When Chi is flowing smoothly, money will also feel so effortless.

Other places to place your fountain

In your wealth area a water fountain can be beneficial, especially paired with the wood element. The element of wood is nourished by the element of water. You could add a money tree or a jade plant here too.

You could also place your fountain on your desk to help with the flow of creative ideas. This is particularly helpful if you have been putting off a work tasks because of creative block.

Areas to avoid:

The bedroom: Moving water in the bedroom can interrupt rest and emotions.

Above or near the stove: Just as a sink facing the stove is considered bad Feng Shui, a water fountain will have the same affect of water and fire clashing. Water near a stove can also dampen prosperity.
