This blog post is inspired by my living room! These last few weeks the energy in my living room has felt ‘off’. Interestingly enough, a plant that used to thrive in the corner of the room, started to die. This confirmed that i needed to check in with my Chi.

Feng Shui is a lifestyle. We really should be checking in with the energy of our home once a month as life is always changing and things are going on in our lives. Just as the seasons change, we should always be changing and evolving with the flow of life.

Things that can change the Chi in your home:

  • If you have had house guests recently.

  • After an explosive argument or the end of a relationship.

  • After a stressful period of events.

  • A career or other big life change.

  • If life feels stagnant or just ‘off’

Monthly Chi check rituals

Pick one day out of the month and check in with the energy of your home. It is much better to do this regularly, rather than wait until after an argument etc, as getting your home back into harmony can prevent things from happening in the first place. If it’s a career or life change that is going to happen, a Chi check can help support us through it with ease.

What do your rooms feel like?

One of the easiest ways to check the Chi is to go into each room and see how it makes you feel. Maybe you haven’t been sleeping well, or the energy in your kitchen feels chaotic.

Take a notebook and make notes of each room and what you notice. Make note of anything broken and any decor that you want to change. Make a plan to repair or donate items and actually do it, your Chi will thank you in forms of abundance.

Check the corners

The corners of our home is where chi can gather and get stuck and turn stagnant. Once a month, clear the corners of each room in your house. sweep them and wipe them down.

If your home needs a boost of energy, you can place a piece of clear quartz crystal in the four corners of your home. This will help to life the energy and amplify good Chi.

Shake out your rugs

Rugs are great Feng Shui, they provide your home with grounding energy which helps your home feel less chaotic. Overtime they can collect energy that will settle and create a ‘stuck’ feeling. It is important to shake off this energy monthly. Shaking your rugs and mats outside of the home would be best. If you can’t move or lift your rugs, a good vacuum will work.

Give everything a wash

If you have recently had house guests, even if you had the best time, you should be washing your couch cushions and bed sheets. This helps lingering Chi from your guests to be cleansed away.

Plant check

One of the biggest ways we can check the Chi in our home is by looking at the messages our plants are telling us. Maybe you had a plant that was thriving in a space and now it isn’t, or, even though you have had the same watering schedule for months, all of sudden isn’t working anymore. These are all signs.

Try and move the plant to a different room. If the plant is dead, throw it away, don’t try and revive it. Dead plants = Dead Chi.

Wipe your surfaces

Wiping down kitchen and bathroom counters can do wonders for the Chi in your home. Counters collect Chi and if we aren’t cleaning and clearing them we may not feel clarity around situations. Take everything off the counters and wipe them down monthly.
