How to run your home like a business
The feminine CEO approach to family life 🏠
Sometimes I scroll on Instagram and can’t help but be awe and secretly celebrate the woman that seem to be doing it all. They have achieved huge career goals, got the degree, or hustled their hearts out to create a business. Even though I am proud of them, I have come to realize that, that life is just not for me.
I have been a business owner since my children were little. I have worked hard, put my all into all of the projects I have tried, yet one thing that has always been successful to me is, my home and the running of it.
Down to my core, the hustle and grind culture was just not for me. I felt such resistance in my life and almost felt like I was trying to be something I am not. Sure, making money felt good, it felt like I was making a contribution to my family but then I realized, looking after and raising my children, making sure my family is fed, and keeping up with the house, is the biggest contribution that I could make.
When i was younger, I wasn’t playing make believe by pretending I was a career woman, I was always playing house. I was always cooking for my imaginary family and rocking babies to sleep. When I came back to that, my energy started to shift. I had manifested that into my reality and I really had to stop and know that I already had what I had always wanted, so why am I trying to be someone else?
The truth is, i am obsessed with all things home and all of the people within my home. I am already living my purpose. It’s already done and I am thriving. This has been my life for the last 13 years, even when I was looking for success outside, and thought it would come through my businesses. I choose success now in what I have already been living.
So, if you are a homemaker looking for something outside of this to feel ‘successful’ here is the truth: you are already successful in who you are and what you have done. You may not receive the ‘paycheck’ in the form of money, but you have an abundance of love, and that is the highest currency you can receive.
I am going to share with you my tips on how i run my home in my feminine CEO energy. These tips not only fulfill my soul purpose, they also help me to feel like I am contributing to my household in ways that are priceless. You should be treating your home like a very successful business.
🏡 Have a clear vision (Your home mission statement)
Every successful business starts with a vision and mission. Your home is no different.
How do you want your home to feel everyday?
What do you want your family to prioritize?
How do you want guests to experience your home?
What values do i want my family to carry?
Answering these questions can help to form a foundation. If you wake up everyday and have no aim, you will find your days are just passing with no fulfillment. When a family works towards the same things, life feels more meaningful. This foundation becomes your compass for decision making. Whether you are redecorating, deciding family activities and outings, or saving for a particular lifestyle. You can always come back to your vision statement to guide you.
💲Create a household budget and profit plan
In a business, every CEO knows their numbers. In a home and as a wife, this should be important even if you are not the one who brings home the money.
Track and know your household income (from all sources)
Understand all of the outgoing expenses: bills, groceries etc.
Build a savings fund, give it a purpose eg. A special vacation (Money loves a plan however, do not call it an emergency savings fund, you will manifest an emergency!)
If you are a family that needs to budget, don’t think of this as restriction. You will manifest more lack, instead, think of the budget as your peace knowing that everything is always taken care of.
🎨 Master the art of scheduling
Your family calender does not have to be a source of stress. It can be your operations manual. A place where everyone knows where they need to be at certain times.
Use one calender that everyone can use. If you have many, this will cause confusion
Color code if you need to
Time block for tasks that need to get done but sometimes get missed every week, this includes self care!
Always include bills that needed to be paid to keep on track
Just like a business - if it's not on the calender, it’s probably not going to happen.
🌎 Delegate like a leader
As a homemaker, you do not need to do it all yourself (I am still working on this!) A good CEO knows how to delegate and create systems that work.
Kids can handle age appropriate chores
Hire out where possible. This can be a cleaner, gardeners etc (remember to put this in your budget)
Use tools and technology if you can (grocery delivery, bills on auto pay, apps on your phone)
Delegation frees up your energy for your bigger vision - family time, financial growth, and creating the life you dream of.
🌿 Invest in your growth
Don't forget, you are the backbone of your family and you should never stop working on yourself. CEO's never stop learning. They always hire mentors and take courses. At home this could mean:
Reading books or listening to podcasts as you complete tasks
Taking courses that help you mange your home more effectively (organization, finances, cooking, Feng Shui!)
Prioritize self care so that you can lead from a place of abundance and not burn out
✨️ Celebrate success
In a business, wins are celebrated. At home we often skip this step because it may not seem important. It is. Celebrate when:
You hit a savings goal
You decluttered a space, or finished something you have been putting off
You kept to your family schedule for a month
Your family worked together as a team
Celebration builds momentum and makes the process joyful instead of a grind.
You are not just a mom, partner, or homemaker—you are the CEO of your life and your family’s future. And every thriving empire starts with a woman who decided to lead it well ✨️
