Feng Shui for unexpected money: How to invite windfalls and lucky breaks into your home
Because who doesn’t love unexpected money??
We all love a steady income and financial security, but who doesn’t want thise surprise checks in the mail, a refund we weren't expecting, or even a random opportunity that puts extra cash in your pocket?
In Feng Shui, your environment can play a powerful role in how you are open to receiving abundance. By shifting the energy of your environment and changing the way Chi flows, you can create the conditions for money to flow to you in ways that can feel like a lucky break.
Here are some simple tips that you can try today to help you align your home for unexpected wealth:
Refresh your wealth corner (back left corner of your home)
The wealth and prosperity area of your home is located in the back left corner of your home according to the Bagua Map. You will need to stand at your front door, looking in, to find it.
This space represents abundance, growth and money flow.
Always make sure that this area is clean and clutter free. About once a month, check to see what has accumulated in your wealth corner, as this can be a big indicator of your relationship with money.
Add something of the wood element as wood is the element connected to wealth.
If you are adding color, purple, gold, or green work best.
Fix any leaks or drips
Water symbolizes money. A leaking tap, a running toilet or toilet that doesn’t work, or even a dripping outdoor hose can symbolically ‘drain’ your finances.
If you are having some financial bad luck, check for leaks in, and around, your home.
Clear your entry way for fresh opportunities
When i need some fresh opportunities, or some new ideas, I always look to my front entrance. The front entrance is the mouth if your home. Think of it like the place that your home receives nourishment. It is where new Chi enters.
Make sure the door can fully open easily with no obstructions.
If you have a squeaky door, fix it. Not only is this annoying for you to hear, it will also negatively affect the Chi.
Clean the door weekly and polish the handle.
Add a welcome mat.
If your entry way feels neglected or blocked, opportunities could be passing by you.
Use mirrors wisely
Mirrors are used to expand energy and where you place that matters.
If you have a mirror facing your front door, it can “bounce” money back out of the door. Instead, use mirrors to reflect beauty, light, and abundance back into your space by placing them in your dining room reflecting the table. You can also place them so they are reflecting natural light or a beautiful piece of art.
Keep your wallet and purse in good shape
Money isn't just the energy of your home, you carry it everywhere you go. Your wallet or purse is the vessel in which you carry physical money energy. A cluttered or torn wallet usually means you are disorganized around your finances.
Treat your wallet like a home for your money. Make it feel welcome and make it feel like a place that it wants to stick around and multiply.
Add a touch of movement
Stagnant spaces lead to Stagnant energy. This can affect the flow of money in and around your home. Try adding an element of gentle movement.
A small table top fountain.
A fan that circulates fresh air.
Open the windows daily, or when you feel ‘stuck’
Move around some decor that has been in the same spot for 6 months or longer.
Movement encourages money to move towards you, rather than staying stuck.
Celebrate small gains to attract big ones
In Feng Shui, gratitude amplifies flow. If you find a coin on the ground, receive a small discount, or get a refund, celebrate like you have won the lottery! Acknowledging money, no matter how small, tells the universe that you are so grateful it found you, this helps to bring more towards you.
Unexpected money isn't just about luck, it’s about being open to recieve. By aligning your wealth corner, caring for your entry way, and removing money drains from your environment, you can create the conditions for lucky breaks and surprise opportunities to find you.
