How to create flow, harmony, and high vibes in tiny spaces.

This article is inspired by my most recent client. He has just gone through a traumatic break up and has moved into a one bedroom apartment. His place is compact, the living room, kitchen and dining area are all in one space so he called me to help!
According to Feng Shui, the size of a home is not a challenge. Some larger homes i have worked on have had terrible Chi flow and some smaller homes have had great Chi flow. It is all about intention and placement. The energy in any home can always be changed and rearranged. This is the magic of Feng Shui!
So if you are in a small home or apartment this one is for you.
Prioritize openness
This is especially important for entry ways but also should be the general rule for all areas. Make sure that there is a flow and no obstacles when you are moving around your space. You don’t want to be knocking things and moving your body in strange positions to get to your couch or desk for example. This creates obstacles in other areas of life.
Use Mirrors to expand Chi
Mirrors are magic when it comes to expanding spaces and can do wonders for the Chi in small spaces. Place them in areas that feel tight and cramped.
Use them to:
Reflect natural light
Visually open up tight corners
Double abundance by reflecting healthy plants and abundant artwork
In hallways to allow Chi to flow
If you work facing a wall, place a small mirror in front of you so that you can see behind you.
Avoid:
Mirrors facing the bed
Mirrors facing clutter or garbage bins
Choose multi-functional furniture
Look for:
Sofas with visible legs. This allows Chi flow underneath.
Storage ottomans
Floating shelves to keep decor items off of the floor or on crowded furniture
Furniture with rounded corners. For example: a round coffee table to allow Chi to flow smoothly

Keep key furniture in the command position
This can be hard to do in smaller spaces but this is where the mirrors can help. If your bed can’t be in the command position (Where you can see the door comfortably, but not be in line with it) Place a small mirror so that when you are lying down you can see the door in the reflection.
This is the same rule for desks and couches.
The command position is key for good Feng Shui as it helps with being able to see what is coming in and avoids being hit with unexpected bad news or bills.
Small bedroom tips
We all know that the bedroom is important for love and relationships. So if space is tight apply these tips:
Use shelves to keep items off of the floor
Avoid packing clutter around the bed
Have a solid headboard
Try and balance the room as much as possible. Even if this is just placing another pillow next to yours
Choose artwork that is supportive of happy relationships
Use earthy tones and soft colors to add peace and calm to the room
Declutter
Small spaces magnify everything - this includes chaos!
Focus on keeping surfaces clear
Store things vertically
Always be removing things that are broken or not being used
Make sure everything you own has a place in the home
Lot’s of items on the floor will add to chaos
Always hang artwork, don’t leave artwork leaning against a wall on the floor (this represents not trusting fully and the energy of "I’m not ready yet")
Plant’s
Use plants to soften corners and to add fresh Chi.
Best plants for small apartments:
Pothos
Snake plants (they grow upwards and won’t take up much space)
Peace lily
Fresh herbs in the kitchen
Succulents
Create mini zones
You can use small items that will separate Chi.
These could be:
A rug to separate the living room from the kitchen
A room divider to close off work areas
A tall plant to mark transitions from one area to another
A small closing desk so that you can work from the living room or bedroom and then tuck it away when the work is done

Happy New Year!
