Did you know your decorating style is connected to your energy and how you feel about yourself? Maybe your decor style is eclectic or maybe you don’t even know what you like, everything is energy! Let’s dive in…

✨️ What is energetic decorating?

Energetic decorating is actually so interesting to me. I have worked in many homes, all with different decor styles and what I have found out is, we all have a unique style and we all have a different way we want to place furniture and it's almost always connected to how we feel on the inside. It is also connected to what some people believe they can or can't have, our past trauma, and even just passed down from our parents and family members.

For example: I worked with a client that never opened her living room curtains during the day. She would just leave them closed even if she was home. When I asked why she does that, she answered that she didn’t know, but just her mom would never open the curtains when she was a child.

From the colors we choose, to the artwork hanging on our walls, it’s all just energy and that energy is either supporting us, or sabotaging our manifestations.

Most of us think our decor style comes from pinterest, trends, or whatever is on sale in our favorite home stores. But the truth is deeper than that.

You don’t decorate based on trends. You decorate based on energy.

Your home is a mirror to your inner world. It is an expression of where you are emotionally, spiritually, and energetically.

Your energetic signature is what calls you towards different design choices.

Your nervous system influences your aesthetic

If you feel overwhelmed easily, your design style may be minimalism. You may not love bright colors and prefer neutral tones and uncluttered spaces.

If this is you, make sure you don’t have any money blocks that are keeping you from spending on home decor. Also, be sure that you are not avoiding brighter colors for fear of being seen.

If you are craving comfort and healing, fill you’re home with warm colors, plush fabrics, and cozy rooms with soft lighting.

Your identity creates the vibe

Your home really does reflect what is happening inside of you. If you feel too busy and that your life is chaotic, where in your home is chaotic? What do you want to feel?

Here are some tips:

  • If you are in a reinvention, stage decorate your home with bold colors and choose modern furniture.

  • If you are trying to heal from something traumatic, choose blush tones, curves, and soft fabrics (especially in the bedroom)

  • If you need grounding energy, choose earthy colors and materials, plants, and natural elements.

What your decorating style reveals about how you feel about yourself

Your decor style will always reveal how you feel.

  • If you love to decorate with pink, gold accents, and florals (like me!) you could be craving more feminine energy. Maybe you didn’t grow up with much feminine influence and you feel the need to be extra girly. If this is you, make sure that you are balancing the feminine pinks and golds with some metal elements and that your home is well organized (masculine) especially if you are single and looking for a romantic partner. You may be great at attracting friends but you also want t o make sure you are attracting lovers too.

  • If you are drawn to earth elements and have rooms full of plants, you are looking for grounding energy. Maybe when you were younger, you didn’t have stability. If this is you, make sure that you are also adding the water element to your home to balance grounding with flow. Too much earth energy can make you feel to grounded and ‘stuck’, so we always want to make sure that energy is flowing and moving.

  • If you prefer a minimal home and are a bit of a clean freak, you may be searching for clarity and are still trying to find yourself. Make sure that you are still allowing yourself to be expressive and ask for what you want. I often find my clients that prefer a minimalist home are too afraid to ask for what they want and sometimes lack self confidence.

  • If you love luxury home decor, you are probably very confidant and are not afraid to take up space (love!) but make sure you are not trying to mask true emotions. Maybe you don’t like to reveal too much to people and have a fear of being vulnerable. Be sure to add some earth and water elements to help bring grounding and healthy emotional flow. It’s OK to cry sometimes!

  • If you don’t have any design style and your home is just a collection of mismatched, second hand items, and creative chaos, you may be a bit of a rebel! You don’t like to conform to societal norms and that’s ok too. Be sure that you have rooms that have some organization and order as we still want to thrive in our environment.

How to reveal your true decorating style

  • Notice what you are drawn to in home decor stores, especially the colors as each color holds an energy. This is what your soul is craving.

  • Don’t let the opinions of others affect what you want to put in YOUR home. So what if your mom will hate your new couch!

  • Create a mood board on canva or pinterest. One that lights you up and makes you feel good. Even if you don’t have the finances to redecorate your home right now, still do this. It will align you energetically and then the money will come.

  • Pay attention to what you strongly love and hate. If you have anything in your home you hate right now, remove it, even if it means you have a blank wall or an empty room. Removing bad energy and having a clear space is a lot better than having bad energy in your home.

  • If you struggle to find any style you like, think of restaurants or hotels you love and adopt that decor style. Not being drawn to anything you love is often connected to self worth - where do you need to rearrange some negative thoughts?

When you decorate energetically, you stop trying to fit in or only do what is trending. You express who you really are and then your home becomes a manifestation magnet!
