How to Bring Mediterranean Energy Into Your Home This summer

No matter where you live!

Lately I have felt the call to try the Mediterranean diet! One of my mentors inspired me to try it after it had been very successful for her.

I have been eating light, delicious and filling meals and my energy has never been better. My skin is glowing and my digestive system has never been happier. I highly recommend it!

Since i decided to try this diet and lifestyle, I have been noticing all of the Mediterranean inspired home decor everywhere and I got inspired to create a little sanctuary right here in Alberta, Canada (ha!)

Below: My current favorite breakfast. Greek yogurt, granola, chai seeds, pumpkin seeds and berries.

Fact about me: During my teen years, I lived on the island of Cyprus. A small island surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea.

🌊 How to Bring Mediterranean Energy Into Your Home This Summer

Infuse your space with light, warmth, and coastal calm using Feng Shui and Mediterranean décor magic.

There’s something soul-soothing about a Mediterranean summer. Whether it's the salty sea air of the Greek islands, the golden light on a Tuscan hilltop, or the relaxed rhythms of Spanish siestas, Mediterranean living invites us to slow down, savor beauty, and let the natural world into our homes.

But you don’t need a villa on the coast to soak up that energy. With a few mindful design choices—and some light Feng Shui guidance—you can bring Mediterranean charm into your home and make it feel like a summer sanctuary.

Here’s how to channel those timeless coastal vibes through décor, energy flow, and sensory details.

🌿 1. Set the Mood with a Mediterranean Color Palette

To start, refresh your space with a palette that mirrors the coastlines of Italy, Greece, and southern France. Think:

Sun-washed whites

Terracotta and clay

Deep ocean blues

Sage green and olive

Soft peach and sandy beige

These natural, earthy tones ground the space while evoking warmth and openness. In Feng Shui, these colors also support balance between the elements—particularly Earth and Water.

Tip: Mediterranean color palettes are perfect for summer décor, especially if you're aiming for a coastal or bohemian interior style.

🔥 2. Balance the Five Feng Shui Elements—Mediterranean Style

Bringing energy into harmony is at the heart of both Mediterranean design and Feng Shui. Here's how to style your home with the five elements in mind:

Earth: Add terracotta pots, ceramic tiles, clay vases, or earthen bowls.

Water: Display shells, driftwood, or blue glass. Place a bowl of saltwater by the entry for cleansing.

Fire: Bring warmth with candles, sunlight, and golden hour hues.

Wood: Use natural wood furniture, woven baskets, or olive branches.

Metal: Accents like wrought iron, brass candlesticks, or antique mirrors complete the balance.

☀️ 3. Let the Light In – Use Sunlight as Sacred Chi

One of the defining features of Mediterranean homes is abundant natural light. In Feng Shui, light is considered a high-vibrational source of chi (life force energy).

Here’s how to invite it in:

Use sheer curtains or leave windows bare

Hang mirrors to reflect and amplify natural light

Avoid dark, heavy furniture that blocks light flow

💡 Pro Tip: Position mirrors across from windows to "double" your sunlight. It’s a Feng Shui hack for uplifting any room.

🌸 4. Create a Mediterranean Scent Ritual

Scent is a powerful way to evoke place and memory. Bring the Mediterranean coast into your home with a signature summer scent ritual using:

Essential oils like lavender, rosemary, bergamot, or lemon

A diffuser blend (try lemon + lavender + cedarwood)

Incense sticks or herbal smudge bundles in ceramic bowls

Not only does this awaken the senses, but scent rituals also activate your space energetically—a key principle in Feng Shui.

🛋️ 5. Carve Out a Siesta Corner for Slow Living

The Mediterranean lifestyle embraces intentional rest—especially during the heat of the day. Bring this sacred slowness into your home with a “siesta space”:

Choose a cozy nook with soft pillows, books, and natural textures

Add a woven rug or linen throw for grounding

Place this space in your Kun area (Feng Shui's feminine/receptive zone) to promote deep rest and yin energy

Even 10 minutes a day in this corner can shift your whole energy.

🌊 6. Style with Sea Energy & Coastal Touches

Let the sea speak in your space. Add decorative items that feel like they were gathered from a stroll along the beach:

Bowls of seashells or smooth stones

Ocean photography or vintage coastal art

Aqua-hued ceramics, textiles, or vases

Water energy enhances flow, intuition, and creativity—perfect for summer rejuvenation.

🍋 7. Eat & Entertain Like You're on the Amalfi Coast

Mediterranean living is nothing if not delicious. Turn your kitchen and dining area into a celebration of summer:

Keep a bowl of citrus fruit (lemons, oranges) in the wealth corner to attract abundance

Set the table with rustic plates, linen napkins, and fresh herbs

Dine outside or open the windows for a breeze—even a small balcony works!

This kind of everyday pleasure is a soft, sacred way to elevate your home energy.

✨️Final Thoughts

You don’t need to travel far to feel the magic of a Mediterranean summer. With a little intention, some natural materials, and light-filled styling, your home can become a coastal retreat filled with balance, beauty, and soft summer energy.

So light a candle, sip a aperol spritz, and bask in the glow of your Mediterranean-inspired sanctuary!
