Feng Shui for small dining spaces
You don’t need a grand dining room with a large table and space for eight people, why? Because in Feng Shui, it’s not about size, it’s about intention, energy, and connection ✨

This blog post is inspired by an email i received a few weeks ago. My client had sent me pictures of her apartment to analyze. Her reason for wanting a Feng Shui consultation was that her relationship was on the verge of break up.
After taking a quick look, i noticed that her apartment had no dining area. She had told me that she and her partner often ate on the couch, zoned out with the tv on, or in the bedroom while working.
Her apartment lacked connection and that energy transferred into her relationship.
Why dining areas are important in Feng Shui
In Feng Shui the area represents:
Nourishment and self worth
Abundance and prosperity
Harmony and connection
Your ability to receive
How you eat is linked to how you live.
If meals are rushed, eaten in front of the tv, or on cluttered surfaces, it sends the signal that you don’t have time for yourself let alone the people that mean most to you.
A small, dedicated eating space can literally change the energy in your home, and also your relationships (even your relationship to money)

Every home needs a designated eating spot
Even if you don’t have a dining room, you do need a clear place where meals are meant to happen.
This could be:
A small cafe style table
A breakfast bar with a stool
A fold away wall table
A corner of the living room or kitchen styled for dining
Avoid eating regularly on:
Your bed
Your couch
Your desk
(Occasional cozy moments are fine - but daily habits shape energy)
💡Feng Shui tip: If you are in a relationship, make a point to eat one meal a day together at your designated dining area. Put phones and distractions away.
Clear the surface before you eat
Clutter blocks Chi. This is especially true where nourishment is involved.
Before meals, make sure that:
Papers like bills and mail are put away
The table is clear of work items
There is space if you aren’t eating alone
A clutter free eating surface improves digestion - emotionally and energetically.
Sit when you eat
Not only is this better for digestion, standing and rushing while eating creates rushed, scattered energy.
Sitting while you eat grounds your body, and relaxes your nervous system. A relaxed nervous system allows your body to feel safe to receive.
This is especially powerful if you are manifesting:
Financial stability
Better boundaries
More ease in daily life
How we do one thing is how we do everything, so start making time and slowing down to eat.
Light = Life force
Dark eating spaces drain your energy. Although natural light is best, in smaller eating spaces this may not be possible.
Use warm lighting like tables lamps or candles to add some light to your dining area.
Ideally, you would want to eat near a window as natural light enhances:
Appetite
Mood
Vitality
Abundance flow
Add one symbol of abundance
Even the smallest eating spaces should include at least one symbol of abundance. Nourishing our bodies is linked to abundance since good health is the ultimate wealth.
Abundance ideas:
A small bowl of fruit
Fresh flowers or a plant
Pretty placemats
A citrine crystal
Seating is important
When we eat the chair we sit on is so important. Think about how uncomfortable it is to eat when the chair is to high from the table or you can’t lean back and feel supported.
Choose dining chairs that are appropriate for the dining table you have.
Having at least two chairs is also best for balancing the energy in your home and welcoming new relationships (Make sure you do this if you are looking for love!)
How you eat reflects how you receive
This is the most important Feng Shui tip of all.
If you rush meals or scroll on your phone while you eat, you may also rush decisions, over give to others, under value yourself, and struggle with receiving support.
When you prioritize your own nourishment you prioritize yourself in every situation. This is the ultimate act of self love ❤️
