In less than two months, 2025 will be ending. You may feel extreme panic or maybe you feel excited. Hopefully its the latter! One thing we have control over is the energy in our home. We can prepare the energy to help us feel ready for the start of a new year and it can help us become aware of what we need to leave behind. Let’s dive in….

I have been applying Feng Shui to every home i have lived in since i was 11 years old and i can say that my favorite time of year to rearrange and reapply it, is just before a new year. Even though in Feng Shui we typically follow the Lunar New Year calendar, a new year symbolizes the start of new beginnings, of change, and endless opportunities. It is also when the energy of the world is a little more positive and optimistic.

I am going to walk you through my process that i apply in the end weeks of the year.

  1. The Entryway

This is the point of entry for Chi. What have you been letting in amd settling for all year? What could be different? Set an intention for 2026 about what you want to let in. Maybe it’s more love or abundance.

Try this to reset your entryway:

  • Wipe the door, inside and out. Clean the door handles and replace the welcome mat. You can do this anytime you want to invite positive changes.

  • Make sure your door opens without squeaky noises and that there is nothing stopping it from opening fully.

  • Add something functional like hooks, or baskets, so that clutter doesn't pile up.

  • Place something uplifting like a new piece of Art or mirror.

2. The kitchen

My favorite room of any home because it is the heart of every home ❤️

The kitchen represents nourishment, digestion, and the rhythm of daily life. In Feng Shui we favor a well balanced kitchen for well-being and even emotions.

  • Be mindful of what has been sitting on your counters all year. Give some things a new space if you can and wake up the Chi. Clear any clutter and pay attention to which areas collect clutter. Apply the Bagua to the kitchen and see if the clutter accumulated corresponds to the area and how it may have been blocked for you. Is there a connection?

  • Ensure your stove is in top working order. Give a deep clean and some love.

  • Add a fruit bowl with ripe fruit.

  • If you have knives displayed on your counters, put them inside a cupboard and see how the energy changes.

3. The bedroom 💗

Your bedroom is pretty much your recharging station! This is the room you rest in. If you haven't been feeling grounded, well rested, and supported this year, let's take a look at your bedroom.

  • Choose soft calming colors for your bedding and curtains. No harsh reds or deep blues.

  • Check what is under the bed. If you have storage, make sure you are only storing things like fluffy towels and bed sheets.

  • Move electronics away from your head. This disrupts so many things, including your mind at bedtime.

  • Check the position of your bed and make sure you can see the door easily.

4. The home office & work areas

It is always a good idea to revisit the Feng Shui of your home office and work areas often, even if you don't work. These areas will always effect the abundance that flows into the home.

  • Remove paper clutter. Old bills, legal papers, and old receipts. Throw out what you don’t need, store away things you may need in the future. Don’t keep money spent as the main focus.

  • Add some life like a new plant or move a plant from another area to your work area. Make sure the plant is happy and healthy.

  • Place something of the water element here. Either a tabletop fountain or a glass vase.

  • Make it pretty and a place that you love to work in. Let these areas bring you joy, not stress.

5. The living room

This room is about connection, relaxation, and togetherness. Do a quick scan of your living room, does it make you feel relaxed or the opposite? Think of your living room as a sanctuary after a long day.

  • Always anchor and ground the energy with a coffee table and rug.

  • Add plush throw pillows and a soft blanket.

  • Make sure your couch is comfortable and inviting.

  • Remove any clutter from the corners.

  • Make sure the windows have appropriate coverings that make you feel safe and protected.
