Is you home making you sick?
In this blog post i am going to share with you, the hidden ways our homes can actually harm our health and what we can do about it.
Our homes should feel like a sanctuary. A place where we can rest and recharge. For some of us however, we may not feel like this. We may wake up still feeling tired, or we may always feel like we get sick so easily.
Did you know there are sneaky things that are in our homes that can contribute to a weakened immune system and can actually make us feel worse? Many homes contain invisible hazards that can lead to fatigue, headaches, hormone imbalance, allergies, brain fog, respiratory issues, and more. The worst part is, they don’t always look obvious to us, and can just be things we use and see everyday.
I am going to share with you what they could be and ways to help minimize them. They may make all the difference for your health.
Please note: I am not a doctor, these tips are things that have helped in my own home that have made a difference for me.
EMF exposure
EMF’s (electromagnetic fields) are emitted by everyday technology. Let’s face it today, almost every device you own needs to be connected to wi-fi and some homes are even built as ‘smart homes’.
Wi-fi routers
Smart phones and tablets
Smart TV’s
Laptops
Baby monitors
Smart meters
All emit EMF frequencies. While they are now just part of everyday life, constant exposure (especially in the bedroom) can contribute to:
Poor sleep
Headaches
Anxiety or nervous system dysregulation
Fatigue and brain fog
Why this matters:
Your nervous system needs rest to heal. Constant EMF exposure disrupts that making us always feel ‘alert’ and this makes real, deep rest hard to achieve.
Shifts you can make:
Turn off wi-fi at night
Keep phones out of the bedroom
Use wired headphones
Avoid sleeping with large electronics and near wi-fi routers.
✨ Feng Shui tip: Shungite crystal is said to help absorb EMF radiation. Place a piece of this crystal on top of wi-fi routers and near smart TV’s.

2. Mold exposure
Mold is one of the most overlooked house hole hazard but one of the most dangerous.
It can grow behind walls, around windows, under sinks, in basements, or anywhere that moisture is present. Even when you can’t see it, mold spores can still circulate in the air.
Common symptoms of mold exposure include:
Chronic fatigue
Skin rashes and congestion
Skin rashes
Hormonal imbalances
Anxiety or depression
Headaches
Worsening allergies or asthma
What to look out for in your home:
Musty smells
Past water damage or leaks
Condensation on windows
Peeling paint on walls or door frames
Things that can help:
Fixing leaks immediately
Using a dehumidifier in rooms you think have mold
Opening windows regularly
Having a professional come out to do a mold test
3. Indoor air pollution
Sometimes, indoor air can be 2-5 times more polluted than outdoor air.
Sources include:
Cleaning products
Candles and air fresheners
Paint and other furniture finishes
Furniture and carpets
Gas stoves
Perfumes
These can release Volatile organic compounds, which can irritate the lungs and disrupt hormones.
Simple upgrades:
Switch to non toxic cleaning products
Use beeswax or soy candles
Add air-purifying plants all over your home
Invest in an air purifier, especially in bedrooms
THIS is the household cleaner i switched to.
4. water quality
Most of us only consider the water we drink when we think of quality, but our shower and bath water can also impact our health.
Unfiltered water may contain: Chlorine, heavy metals, pesticides, and pharmaceuticals.
Hot showers open pores, allowing chemicals to absorb through the skin and be inhaled as steam.
Potential effects:
Dry skin and hair
Hormonal disruption
Skin irritation
Increased chemical load in the body
Solutions to try:
Installing a filtered shower head
Use a filtered water system for your whole home
Avoid synthetic bath and body products (no matter how good they smell!)
Get some beeswax candles HERE
5. synthetic materials and chemicals
Forget what home decor is trending, it may be making you sick! These days most home decor is mass produced garbage that may look good but will most likely be releasing some bad chemicals over time.
Some examples:
Memory foam mattresses
Synthetic rugs
Plastic anything!
Vinyl flooring
These chemicals can disrupt the endocrine system that can contribute to long term health issues that include:
Hormone imbalance
Sleep disturbances
Headaches
Allergies
What to choose instead:
Decor made of natural materials like wood or marble
Glass or stainless steel for containers
Organic bedding
Himalayan salt lamps
Natural fiber rugs (cotton, wool, etc)
You don’t need to replace everything but little changes will make a big difference.

6. stressful room layouts
As a Feng Shui expert, i see this all too often! Your home’s layout can stress out your nervous system.
Examples:
Beds directly in line with doors
Cluttered, over crowded rooms
Work items in the bedroom
No clear resting spaces
Harsh lighting
Stressful environments keep the body from fully relaxing. This affects digestion, sleep, hormones, and immunity.
Supportive changes to make:
Declutter each room
Use soft, warm lighting
Make bedrooms places for rest and deep sleep
Create calm in the living room
