Feng Shui Kitchen colors: What to add and what to avoid
Your kitchen is one of the most important areas in your home. According to Feng Shui, the kitchen is connected to wealth and prosperity, and also health and nourishment. You need your kitchen to be in balance and harmony, and i am going to show you how to do that with color.
In Feng Shui, color choices can directly affect abundance, health, love, and emotional harmony. It is one of the easiest ways to fix the Chi that is in your home, and a really great enhancement for rented homes.
Color can be added in so many different ways.
You can add color with:
Artwork.
Curtains and bedsheets.
Rugs.
Accessories like vases.
Table cloths.
Throw pillows and blankets.
There are so many ways to add color without painting walls or making permanent changes, and they all create a different energy. We are going to focus on the kitchen.
Colors to add (Supportive and abundant)
Soft whites and creams.
Encourage clarity, cleanliness, and fresh energy.
Choose warm whites over stark white.
Add in ways of cabinet colors, back splashes, towels, floor mats, and fruit bowls.
Soft greens.
I actually love sage green for kitchens and bathrooms, it is a color i will always suggest.
Greens represent growth, health, and renewal.
Ideal for kitchens in the wealth area.
Can add green plants, accent walls, and art.
Warm earth tones.
Create grounding and stability.
Support digestion, and daily routines.
Add earth materials for flooring, countertops, and accessories like wooden chopping boards.
Light yellows.
Yellow, in Feng shui, is the color of health, joy, and sunlight. It symbolizes nourishment and happiness.
Although great in the kitchen, don’t let yellow over power. Add in ways of accents instead of painting the cabinets yellow. Stick to butter and honey tones.
Colors to avoid (or limit)
Red or bright oranges.
These colors can overstimulate the fire energy. In the kitchen there is already a lot of fire as this is where to stove usually is.
Too much fire creates a home with too much conflict, and also digestive issues.
If your kitchen is red and you have no choice, calm it with earth elements.
Black or dark charcoal.
Black kitchens may look chic, but they are not the greatest for energy in the home. As well as fire, the kitchen also has enough water energy. Black is a water energy color, and too much water creates a drain on finances.
Black in the kitchen can dampen motivation.
Dark blue and navy.
Similar to black, blue can is also a water energy color.
Too much water clashes with fire and creates chaos and tension.
If you have any of these colors and can’t do much about it, don’t panic. Balance is the key to anything.
How to balance existing colors
Too dark? Add white ceramics, light wood, or mirrors.
Too fiery? Add plants, wood accents, or earth tones.
Too many colors? Reduce the number of items on counters choose calming colors for artwork and other accessories.
Too much water? Add Earth elements.
Bonus Feng Shui kitchen tips (because i love you!)
Treat the stove like a vessel for more wealth. Keep it clean and in good working order. Use all of the burners equally. Avoid storing things inside the drawers.
Be mindful of what the stove faces. If your stove faces a wall and you can’t see behind you, add a small mirror. This symbolically helps you see more money making opportunities.
Clear counter tops create a clear mind.
Fix any leaks immediately. Dripping faucets = drained money.
Take out the trash at least every other day. Also, if you have a bin near the stove, move it away. Under the sink is a great option.
Balance fire and water. If your stink and stove face each other, create a separation between using floor mats, or a hanging crystal above to redirect the energy.
Display fresh fruit on your counter in a round bowl for prosperity.
