Feng Shui Balcony Ideas For a Lucky Summer
For all of my apartment and balcony girls, this blog post is for you! I will give you all of my favorite Feng Shui tips and tricks for your balconies, to start your lucky girl summer ✨
I have two balconies on my house. One off of my master bedroom, and a smaller one that is connected to my living room. I always have them Feng Shui’d in the summer and here is why: Your balconies and patios are an extension of your homes energy. When we look at the Bagua Map of our home, we can use the balcony as either an extension of that Gua, or it can also help you if you have a missing area. They are very important, and we often only focus on what is inside of our homes.
Even the tiniest balcony can become a powerful place for attracting peace, abundance, beauty, creativity, and happiness.
A well designed balcony helps energy circulate instead of feeling trapped or stagnant, especially in apartmentliving. When your balcony feels cozy, intentional, and alive, it can completely shift the mood of your home and your daily life.
You do not need luxury furniture or a huge space to create beautiful Chi. A few thoughtful details can transform your balcony into a feminine summer sanctuary.
Start with a balcony reset
Before we Feng Shui anything, we must cleanse and clear.
After winter balconies can often look and feel neglected and can lack life. They often become areas for storage and unwanted items from inside of your home. It is important to clear this energy.
Remove:
Broken items
Dead plants
Empty pots
Garbage or bins
Anything that doesn’t bring you peace
Once that is done, we can start cleaning.
Sweep and clean floors
Wipe down railings
Open up the doors to your home to help get energy moving
The goal is to make the balcony feel welcoming again, so you may like to do a sage ritual, or simply place a bowl of salt outside overnight to absorb any negative energy.
Add plants for prosperous energy
I love this comfy lounger.
Plants are the easiest way to bring life force to any space that hasn’t been used in a while. They represent growth, vitality, and abundance.
If your balcony is small and doesn’t have much space, hanging planters work well.
Make sure that any plants you add are healthy and well taken care of and they bring color and joy to your space.
Healthy plants instantly make a balcony feel more alive and prosperous.
Make it cozy
Your balcony should feel like an escape from stress.
Create a cozy moment by adding:
Comfy seating
An outdoor rug
Soft blankets
A small table
A calming candle
This will help create Yin energy, which is feminine, restorative, and will help you regulate your nervous system. A balcony that feels like joy to your nervous system is good Feng Shui.
Use soft lighting
Lighting can almost instantly change the feeling of a space. Soft lighting creates a space that feels calm, inviting, and romantic. I have a string of lights hanging along my balcony railing and they make everything seem so much prettier at night.
You could also add:
Lanterns
Solar powered string lights
Candles
LED lamps
Summer is connected to the element of fire, so too much harsh, bright lighting will create an imbalance in energy. Too much fire energy can create arguments, tension, and anxiety. So calm lighting is best.
Balance the 5 elements
Balancing the five elements creates harmony and flow.
Wood
Plants, wooden furniture, flowers
Fire
Candles, warm lighting, sunset colors
Earth
Ceramic pots, crystals, stones, woven textures
Metal
Gold accents, metal lanterns, wind chimes
Water
Small fountains, blue tones, reflective surfaces
Decorate with symbols of abundance
Since this is our wealthy woman summer, adding symbols of abundance is a must!
Feng Shui is very intentional and how we decorate literally becomes what we attract into our lives.
Abundance symbols include:
A metal windchime (to signal change and call in new opportunities)
Lemon or citrus prints
Sturdy and solid balcony furniture (for stability)
Accents of green or purple
The most important thing to remember is to create a balcony space that supports the person that you are becoming.
Things to avoid:
Overcrowding the balcony (Chi needs room to circulate)
Not having enough furniture or having furniture that is too small for the space (this creates imbalance)
Too many bright colors (too much fire)
Not having an outdoor rug (rugs help ground energy)
Romanticize Summer
As i get older i realize how important it is to romanticize life and find the joy in my everyday little things. These bring me the most happiness and help to keep me loving my life. This keeps my energy in a high frequency and then helps me to attract all of my goals and dreams.
This summer use your balcony to:
To enjoy your morning coffee
To journal
To watch the sunset
Meditate
Evening tea time
To find a peaceful moment to feel gratitude
Good energy flows where we place good intentions. Make your balcony a place of happiness and the happiness you attract will be like nothing you have felt before. Feng Shui really isn’t about expensive decor, just creating spaces that feel like your soul is safe and at home.
The Feng Shui Meaning of Your Balcony Direction
In Feng Shui, the direction your balcony faces can influence the type of energy your home attracts. Since balconies connect your indoor and outdoor environments, they act almost like energetic “receivers” for different forms of Chi.
You do not need to panic if your balcony faces a certain direction. Every direction has positive qualities. The goal is simply to understand the energy and enhance it intentionally.
