Sometimes we don’t want or need complicated Feng Shui tips and guides. Sometimes, the simpler the tips, the more impact they make. Try these tips this week to invite some positive energy into your home

My inbox is always full of of questions from anxious people, all asking me Feng Shui questions that sometimes i have never even heard of! For example, i had an email from a lady asking me if it is ok to cut her nails inside of her home, since she had heard that it was “bad Feng Shui” to do this as nails are considered dirty.

This had me thinking about what everyone out there is thinking about Feng Shui, and how they may be living in fear. To me this is wrong on so many levels!

Feng Shui isn’t superstition. It is not something to fear and live in fear of. It is an energy system that you apply in your home. It promotes the flow of good energy. It is simple and easy, and anyone can use it’s principles to better their lives. Because when we have a good flow of energy around us, we think clearly and then we can make better decisions and improve the quality of our lives.

Here are some easy Feng Shui energy tips that you can apply to your home today.

One: Get to know your home

The first step to change is knowing what needs to be changed.

I do this with my clients so that they get to know the current energy in their homes, before we can add cures.

Take pictures on your phone of every room, hallway, closet, and your entry way.

Look at these pictures as if you are someone that judges other peoples homes.

What do you love? What would you change? Where can you feel that there may be blocks?

This could look like a cluttered dining table, or kitchen counters that have too many appliances on them. Is there a place in your home that always collects clutter and is a dumping place for all of your families items? Can you create a plan for the things you would like to change? Start small, you only need to do a few small things a week to create changes. Take note of how accomplished and proud you feel after.

Two: Let natural light fill your home

Light is one of the most simplest ways to improve the energy of your home. As soon as the sun comes up, open all of the curtains and blinds in your home and let natural light flood throughout.

Natural light energizes a space and helps lift your mood.

If natural light is limited, add warming light in ways of lamps and Himalayan salt lamps to help bring the same energy.

Three: Clean the front door

Yes, it is really that simple. Every Monday wipe down your front door, inside and out. Do this with the intention of your door attracting good news and new opportunities.

If you want to get extra fancy, make sure the path leading to your front door is also clear. Pull any weeds, spray it down with a hose. Just make sure that the path is clear. This will work wonders in your life.

Four: Add plants

Plants represent growth, vitality, and renewal. They are one of the easiest ways to invite the energy of growth into your home. They help to create a connection to nature, and are really great for the air quality in your home.

If you already have plants in your home, check their health. If you have plants that used to be healthy and now they are not, there may be some negative energy flowing around your home.

Try and move the plant to another location and clean and clear the space that it used to be.

Make sure that all of your plants are healthy and do not bring home any plants that are dying that you think you may be able to save. This will bring negative energy into your home.

Five: Create calm in the living room

Your living room should always be a comfortable space that your family comes to relax. If your family would rather sit in their bedrooms or other areas to relax, you may need to work on your living room.

Here are some tips:

  • If you have too many items on your couch, remove some so that there is space for people to sit. Sometimes a couch that looks overcrowded can deter people.

  • Wash your couch cushions once a month. Make it clean and inviting.

  • Make sure you have a coffee table as it will slow energy down. When energy moves too fast through a room, it creates chaos instead of clam.

  • Add natural elements like wood accents. This will help ground the energy.
