As we move closer to March, your January goals are probably non existent. The New Year feeling is wearing off and you have either created new habits or, you are back to the old ones! That is ok and here is why, March is when energy begins to rise again, life starts waking up, and things around us start to bloom.

If you live the Feng Shui lifestyle, like me, you probably live seasonally. We follow natural energy and not dates.

In January it is still dark, cold, and we are still in rest mode. It is no wonder why so many of us fall off of track and abandon our New Years resolutions so easily.

March on the other hand is when daylight starts to increase, we see buds forming on trees again, animals start birthing babies, everything is starting to come alive again. We can work with this energy.

March is the true energetic New Year

Across many ancient traditions, the new year didn’t begin in January, it began in the spring.

Astrologically, March marks:

  • The Spring Equinox

  • The beginning of Aries season

  • The energy of initiation and courage

Will all of this new energy that is all around you, you may notice that you have more physical energy, you may feel more inspired and creative, and you will more than likely want to take action on new goals.

Aries season is the perfect time to start something new.

January clears the way, March creates

Think of the first quarter of the year as a process:

January: Rest and release

February: Create a plan

March: Build and take action

If January felt slow, and February felt emotional, that is because they were doing their job. You are in sync with nature.

March is when those energies will start to make sense.

It is the month for:

  • New routines

  • New projects

  • New identities

  • New ways of living

  • New hobbies

All of these will feel natural to start around this time, it won’t feel forced.

Your home responds to the energy in March

From a Feng Shui perspective, March activates Wood energy. Wood represents growth, movement, and expansion.

This in probably the most powerful time of the year to do reset the energy of your home.

Make sure that you are rearranging intentionally. Create change by moving decor and furniture around, with the intention of new opportunities coming to you.

Bring in life and light. Maybe you could buy one new plant and one new item like a lamp or candle.

Even small changes bring big impacts in March because the energy is naturally changing.

Feng Shui insight: Changes made in March tend to stick because they are supported by momentum, not force and willpower like January energy.

March supports identity shifts and not just habit changes

January focuses on discipline and March focuses on identity.

We don’t just want to be writing in our journals about who we want to become, we want to be putting action behind the identity shifts.

Use March to:

  • Redefine who you are and start doing, thinking, and behaving like her.

  • Let go of outdated versions of you.

  • Step into visibility - don’t be afraid to be seen as who you really want to be.

  • Make decisions from a place of the new identity.

March is a turning point

Winter keeps emotions hidden and Spring naturally brings them out.

You may feel that you feel lighter, more hopeful, and more willing to try again if something didn’t work the first time.

This emotional openness makes it easier to forgive yourself, release shame, and reimagine your life the way you actually want it to be.

How to start over in March the right way

Start with alignment and not ambition.

  1. Reset your environment first. Clear winter heaviness and stagnation.

  2. Choose one area to grow in first. Not everything needs to change all at once.

  3. Make changes that feel good. If it drains you, it’s not aligned.

  4. Let momentum build naturally. March rewards consistency, not intensity.
