5 Tips to Feng Shui your closet this Spring
Every spring i Feng Shui my closet. It has been a ritual that i have loved for the last 4 years. I make my favorite coffee, put on some good music and then begin taking out everything from my closet and only putting back what is aligned with what i want and where i am going in life in the present.
Spring is truly my favorite time of year. The snow is finally melting and i can see little buds on the trees, everything about is makes me so excited for what is to come.
In Feng Shui, your closet is more than just a place you keep your clothes, it represents your identity, self worth, and your confidence. If it is overflowing, chaotic, or filled with old pieces that don’t feel like you anymore, that energy could be draining you and keep you stuck.
Trust me, you don’t have time for energy leaks. You have big things to do in the world!
Let me help you reset your closet so that you can create what you are meant to.
Clear out who you used to be
Every time i go through my closet i always find pieces that i bought during a season of trying to be something i am not. It could be something that is ‘trending’ but looks awful on me, or something that i thought would make me feel powerful but instead isn’t true to me. These pieces take up space and create clutter that blocks what is actually meant for me.
This spring:
Remove anything that doesn’t fit your current body or lifestyle (don’t hold on to anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or bad about yourself)
Let go of anything that holds negative memories.
Donate with gratitude and not guilt.
If you wouldn’t buy anything that you have again, it’s time to let it go.
What to keep
You don’t need a whole new wardrobe, you can work with what you have. We all have things that we just know look amazing on us. These pieces tell us that something is in alignment.
Keep colors that look good on you and suit your skin tone.
Keep staple pieces that are good quality.
Keep pieces that look great on your body that make you feel comfortable.
Use the right Feng Shui elements
Closets are often ignored as part of the energy in the home. We tend to focus more on the bedroom itself. Let’s fix that, every part of your home holds an energy frequency, even if we close the door.
Since it is the place we are getting ourselves ready, place a rose quartz in your closet. You can put it in a corner or on a shelf.
Add sachets of lavender to keep the energy calm and smelling great.
A full length mirror that is cleaned often. I like to add post it notes of self love affirmations on them and stick them on the mirror.
If you are lucky enough to have a window in your closet, add a plant.
Organize with flow, not perfection
Your mind and thoughts will be clearer when you have some organization and structure to your closet. It invites flow into your life.
Match your hangers. This small tip will make your closet feel elevated.
Organize by category first, then by color. This will help you visually feel better.
Leave breathing room between pieces. When Chi has space to flow, you will feel lighter.
Create a getting ready ritual
Now that you closet is organized and feels better, getting ready can be a time that feels good and relaxed, instead of not knowing what to wear and not being able to see what we have.
Rituals are the perfect way to romanticize our lives and help our nervous system stay calm. Getting ready in a calm, high vibe closet will help our nervous system to relax.
Try this:
Open the doors of your closet and let some fresh air in.
Decide how you want to feel today. How do you want to show up?
Choose your clothes based on this question.
Take your time getting dressed, feeling appreciation for your body, for your skin and every part of you.
Take a look at yourself in your mirror and hold a 17 second visual of how you want your day to go. This is grounding.
